Description
This sheath is designed specifically and exactly for the Marbles Camp Axe. It is made out of full-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide. The leather is treated with Fiebings Mink Oil (available here from us).
The construction of the sheath starts with three pieces of leather: the main body of the sheath, the securing strap and the welt. The main body is folded over a welt that is inserted between the two folded halfs which prevents the blade of the inserted axe from cutting the stitch that is placed to hold the sheath together. The sheath is then hand stitched and steel or brass rivets are placed at the corners to reinforce the body. The axe head blade, when placed in the sheath, is prevented from touching the rivets because of the welt. The retention strap is then secured with a steel rivet and a steel snap is added for easy on/off action. This sheath is built to last, and quality hand made in the USA (Spokane, Washington). Finish to the edges of the leather is applied for aesthetic appeal. Watch how this sheath is made on YouTube:
