Description
This sheath, or what some call a mask/cover, is designed specifically and is tooled exactly for the Council Tool 3.5# Dayton SB Axe 35DR36C. It is made out of full-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide. The leather is treated with Fiebings Mink Oil (available from us here).
This sheath will protect you from the blade and the blade from accidentally dulling if it bumps into anything.
The construction of the sheath starts with three pieces of leather: the main body of the sheath, the securing strap and the welt. The main body is folded over a welt that is inserted between the two folded halves which prevents the blade of the inserted axe from cutting the stitch that is placed to hold the sheath together. The sheath is then glued, hand stitched and steel rivets are placed at the corners to reinforce the body. The axe head blade, when placed in the sheath, is prevented from touching the rivets because of the welt. The retention strap is then secured with a steel rivet and a steel snap is added for easy on/off action. This sheath is built to last, and quality hand crafted in the USA (Spokane, Washington). Finish to the edges of the leather is applied for aesthetic appeal. Watch how we make a similar sheath on YouTube:
A review of the Condor Tool and Knife Scout Hatchet and this sheath is coming soon to our YouTube channel.
We have also designed a holster for this axe (size small)! Take a look at it by clicking here.
Please make sure that your axe/hatchet will fit into this sheath. The sizes should match as below (even though they are shown on a different axe):
The sheath is handmade in Spokane, Washington.
